Women's Leadership Committee
Chairperson: Beth Kornegay
The Women's Leadership Committee of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation is a local extension of the Alabama Farmers Federation Women's Leadership Division. This dedicated group empowers women to take an active role in agricultural advocacy, education, and policymaking at the county level. Serving as a vital link between local farmers and the broader Federation, the committee helps implement policies and programs that support and strengthen the agricultural community.
Committed to fostering agricultural awareness, the committee works to engage and educate women by providing the knowledge and resources needed to address challenges facing farmers. Through initiatives such as Ag in the Classroom, farm safety programs, and community outreach, members promote agricultural literacy and inspire future generations. The committee also organizes projects and activities designed to encourage leadership, involvement, and personal development with a special emphasis on engaging young women.
In addition to its local efforts, the committee participates in state and national meetings, supports charitable programs like the Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Program, and celebrates agricultural traditions through events such as the Heritage Cooking Contest. Through these initiatives, the Women's Leadership Committee amplifies the voice of women in agriculture and helps ensure a strong, sustainable future for farming in Jefferson County.
