Stev Parsons, President

Dr. Stevan Parsons is a longtime resident of Sylvan Springs, AL, where he and his wife Jennifer, live on a cattle farm and enjoy time with their growing family. A graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Parsons earned his veterinary degree in 1982 and began his career at Hueytown Veterinary Clinic, where he had once worked as a kennel assistant during high school.
IN 1986, he and his partners purchased Pleasant Grove Veterinary Clinic, where he built strong ties with the local community. A decade later, he and his partners opened the McAdory Veterinary Clinic in McCalla, where he continued to care for animals and serve families across the area. Although he retired from daily practice in 2023, he still provides occasional relief veterinary work.
Dr. Parsons has served in many leadership roles, including President of the Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association, Council Member and Mayor of Sylvan Springs, and President of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation. He is also an active member of Maytown Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Dr. Parsons and his wife, Jennifer have been married for 44 years. Their son, Taylor and his wife, Lindy, are raising a large and lively family. Their daughter, Stefanie, and her husband, Anthony, are doing the same. Family, faith, and farming remain central in his life and work.
Through decades of veterinary service and agricultural leadership, Dr. Parsons continues to support Alabama agriculture and strengthen the mission of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation.
Jimmy Carmack,
Vice President
Jimmy is a dedicated beekeeper and honey producer based in Center Point, Alabama. Now retired from his career as a self-employed heavy equipment mechanic, Jimmy focuses full-time on his passion for beekeeping.
In 2004, he became the first Certified Master Beekeeper in Alabama, completing the prestigious Master Beekeeping Program through the University of Georgia and Young Harris College. His expertise and commitment to beekeeping have made a lasting impact on the agricultural community in Jefferson County and beyond.
Jimmy continues to be an active and respected member of the agricultural community, proudly contributing to the Jefferson County Farmers Federation through his work in agriculture.


Brad Fuller, Secretary/Treasurer
Brad has always been deeply passionate about farming. After dedicating 25 years to serving as a firefighter in Hoover, Brad retired and redirected his focus to the family farm in Warrior where his love for agriculture first took root. In addition to his firefighting career, Brad also managed his business, Brad's Pools and Supply.
Today he finds joy in caring for his livestock, which includes cattle, goats, chickens, and honey bees. He and his wife Connie are active members of Waterstone Baptist Church. Brad also enjoys serving on several boards and committees, such as the Warrior Commercial Development Board, the Board of Directors of the Agriculture Exhibition Center Corporation (Alabama Farm Center), the Jefferson County Cattlemen's Association, and the Jefferson County Farmers Federation.
Beth Kornegay,
Women's Committee Chairperson
Beth lives on a 200 acre farm in Adger, Alabama, where she enjoys life to the fullest alongside her family and a host of unique farm animals. She retired from State Farm in 2020 after 13 years and now proudly holds the title of "Hank's Mom," a role she cherishes.
Beth's hobbies include: crocheting, photography, attending drag races, going to cruise-ins with classic cars, and spending time on the farm. She especially enjoys being with Hank, the beloved camel who has become a true part of the family.
Beth married Wally Kornegay on July 17, 1981. They have one daughter, Randy, who is married to Justin. Together, they have two children, Kyle (married to Serenity) and Erin (married to Colton). The family shares their farm with fainting goats, Dorper sheep, emus, chickens, livestock guardian dogs, mini Zebus, a mini donkey, and of course, Hank the camel.
Beth is a proud Christian who enjoys sharing her love of animals and farming with others, especially children. She believes in the importance of talking to kids about agriculture because, as she puts it, "no one else seems to."
Beth brings warmth, joy, and dedication to the Jefferson County Farmers Federation and to everyone she meets through her love of family, faith, and farm life.

Evan Nelson,
Young Farmer's Program Chairperson

Evan is a full-time farmer in McCalla, AL, and the owner of Nelson Cattle & Hay, LLC. He specializes in feed hay and mulch hay production, erosion control, and beef cattle, and manages over 1500 acres of farmland in Jefferson County.
Evan and his wife, Christy, have been married 15 years and are raising three sons, Cash, age 13; Crue, age 8; and Briggs, age 6. When he is not working the land, Evan enjoys exploring the farm with his family, spending time outdoors, and traveling.
At the heart of Nelson Cattle & Hay is a deep belief that building a successful farming business requires more than just skill and equipment. Evan credits the operation's strength to faith in God, pride in country, hard work, creativity, patience, consistency, and a willingness to do whatever it takes.
Evan brings a forward-thinking approach to agriculture while honoring the traditions and values that have shaped family for generations. His work and leadership are a valuable art of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation.
Alvin Anderson, Member
Alvin lives in Morris, Alabama, and is a retired produce farmer and traffic signal technician for the State of Alabama. He officially retired from the state on March 1, 2014, after 38 years of dedicated service.
Alvin enjoys traveling and spending time with his friends and family. He and his wife, Kathy Anderson, have two children Amanda Wesley and Lee Anderson, and are proud grandparents to Anderson and Alexander.
His current farm interests include hay and timber. Alvin also previously served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He continues to serve his community as a trustee for a local cemetery.
Alvin brings a strong work ethic, a love for agriculture, and a spirit of service to the Jefferson County Farmers Federation.


Brooks Baker, Member
Brooks Baker, III lives in Warrior, Alabama, where he enjoys life on his ranch and remains actively involved in his community. He retired from UAB in 2013 and now focuses on cattle ranching, his primary agricultural interest.
In addition to managing his ranch, Brooks serves as Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Board in Warrior. He also volunteers with the Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association.
Brooks and his wife, Marylyn, enjoy spending time with their family. He has two daughters, Heather and Amy, and a son, Hop, and is a pround grandfather to ten grandchildren.
He is a member of Metropolitan Church of God and values staying connected to both his church and his community. His commitment to agriculture, service, and family is evident in his continued support of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation.
Rhonda Hughes, Member
Rhonda lives in Bessemer, Alabama where she and her husband, Jim, are actively involved in farming. Together, they raise beef cattle, keep horses on the farm and enjoy supporting their grandchildren showing market and breading hogs.
Rhonda is a dedicated supporter of agriculture and enjoys the hands-on work that comes with caring for their livestock and land. Her passion for farming is rooted in a love for animals and the rural lifestyle.
She is proud to be a part of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation, where she continues to support and promote Alabama Agriculture.


Barry Jenkins, Member
Barry lives in Hayden, Alabama, and works for McGriff Pro Fleet. In addition to his career, he is actively involved in agriculture through his beef cow and calf operation.
Barry is married and has one daughter. Though he doesn't have much time for hobbies, he is committed to his family and farm. His dedication to agriculture and hard work are reflected in his contributions to the local farming community and the Jefferson County Farmers Federation
Wally Kornegay, Member
Wally lives in Adger, Alabama, where he spends his days working in his shop and on the farm. A lifelong farmer, Wally is now retired but remains actively involved in his agricultural passions.
His hobbies include: restoring old cars and trucks, welding, and spending time with his pets. Wally and his wife Beth have a daughter and son-in-law, Randy and Justin Lindley, and are proud grandparents to their grandson Kyle and granddaughter Erin.
Wally's current farm interests include: goats, sheep, donkeys, mini cows, and even a camel! He and his family are also known for organizing around 20 live Nativity programs and 30 petting zoos each year.
Wally brings a strong sense of craftsmanship and community spirit to everything he does and is a proud member of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation.


Norman McClure, Member
Norman has lived in Clay, Alabama since 1976. He is a retired diesel mechanic who has spent the last 15 years focusing on beekeeping. His interest in bees has grown into a meaningful part of his life and connection to agriculture. Since October 2012, Norman has served on the board of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation, offering his time and support to help strengthen local farming efforts.
He and his wife Polly, have been married since 1975. They have two daughters, Caitlin and Kelsey.
Norman values community involvement and enjoys working alongside others to support agriculture in Jefferson County.
Robert (Bert) Moore, Member
Bert lives in McCalla, Alabama, and works as Regional Manager for Schooler Outdoor Marketing. In addition to his professional career, he maintains a strong connection to agriculture as a farm property owner, supporting both cattle and hay operations.
As an avid outdoorsman, Bert enjoys hunting and fishing in his free time. He and his wife, Brigitte S. Moore are proud parents to two daughters, Maggie and Amelia.
Bert is a second-generation member of the Alabama Farmers Federation. His grandparents, Claude and Ilene Parsons, were active members of the Farm Bureau and later ALFA, serving in the Jefferson County Beef Division and Women's Committees from the 1960s through the 1980s.
With deep agricultural roots and a continued passion for farming, Bert is proud to be part of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation.

Johnny Morris, Member

Johnny manages Morris Farms in Warrior, AL, alongside his wife Laurie, their son Matt and his wife Jessica, and their six grandchildren. His sisters, Cathy and Julie, are also active on the farm. The farm was originally founded by Johnny's father, John W. Morris, and continues to thrive as a multigenerational operation.
Johnny retired in 2020 from Environmental Services for Jefferson County, where he worked with a reclamation program that repurposed waste to fertilize hay fields used for cattle feed. Since retiring, he has devoted his time fully to farming, which he proudly calls his lifelong passion.
Morris Farms runs a gate-to-plate cattle operation that is antibiotic-free and grass-finished, producing a natural, high-quality product that today's consumers demand. They also raise and harvest their own feed and produce farm-to-fork catfish, emphasizing freshness, sustainability, and transparency.
Johnny's love for farming started early. By the age of 14, he was hauling silage back and forth to Guntersville. Now, he is passing that knowledge on to the next generation by mentoring 5 to 6 student interns at a time. Whether or not they choose a future in agriculture, Johnny believes the experience will shape their understanding of where food comes from and leave a lasting impact.
His dedication to farming, education, and responsible food production reflects the values of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation and contributes meaningfully to agriculture in Alabama.
Steve Watts, Member
Dr. Stephen Watts lives in Birmingham, Alabama, where he works as a Professor of Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). In addition to his academic work, he is passionate about agriculture, especially cattle farming, fish farming, and promoting food security at both the regional and global levels.
Steve enjoys spending time outdoors and is an avid supporter of agricultural education. His hobbies include cattle farming, hunting, fishing, and rodeo.
He and his wife, Gina, have been married for 31 years and enjoy spending time with their family. Their children are Andrew and his wife, Gabby; Rachel and her husband, Alex; and Leah, Zoe, and Ellie. Steve is also a proud grandfather to two granddaughters, Carmella and Riva.
He currently serves as President of the Jefferson County Cattlemen's Association, District Supervisor for the Soil and Water Conservation District, and Co-Chair of the Cattlemen's Pro Rodeo at Hallmark. Steve and his family are active members of Dawson Baptist Church.
His dedication to agriculture, and service is reflected in both his professional and personal life, and he brings that commitment to the Jefferson County Farmers Federation.
