Our Jefferson County Women's Leadership Committee started the new year with monetary donations to Ronald McDonald House and collected shampoo and body wash for “Three Hots and a Cot” for our homeless veterans.
The ladies also participated in the annual cooking contest with the winner later going to Montgomery to compete at State level. Some of the ladies also participate in the food price surveys and attended the Commodities Conference and its seminars in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In addition, members attended the Women's Conference in Birmingham. And, they are busy even now working on all the activities needed to complete the success of the Farm-City Banquet and the poster, essay, and media entries as well.
Lastly, as always, we urge teachers to sign up and attend “Ag In The Classroom”, a very worthwhile seminar for teachers to bring back ideas for their classroom. Not only do you enjoy farm tours, teachers bring back loads of free materials!
These are just some of the activities our ladies are involved in, so you can see that we are a productive group of ladies here in Jefferson County. Please feel free to contact our office about any of these programs.
