Happy Memorial Day! Celebrate and enjoy today with a delicious waffle breakfast from our very own Mr. and Mrs. John Morris. Mrs. Morris described the recipe she found from an old Crisco Cookbook. She keeps her waffle iron close by all throughout strawberry season just for this recipe! She even might keep it handy throughout the upcoming peach season too!
2 cups sifted self rising flour
2 tbsp of sugar
1 1/2 cups of milk
1/4 cup melted crisco
Sift flour and sugar into mixing bowls. Beat 2 eggs with part of milk and add to flour mixture.
Add rest of milk and mix 1/4 cup of crisco and add to flour mixture.
Cook in waffle iron. Top with fresh strawberries and add your favorite syrup.
