Our State Annual meeting was held recently to celebrate and commemorate 200 Years of Agriculture. It is a very important meeting where board members from across the state discuss official business and vote. In the area caucus meeting, up for election Jon Hegeman was elected Central Area Vice-President and Joe Anders for District Directors.
The Women's Leadership Committee collected pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and also held their caucus meeting and business meeting along with their luncheon. They also participated in the Ag Foundation silent auction which netted over $10,000. Jefferson County’s Women Leadership Committee was one among the many counties that were noted for their “Excellence” throughout the year.
At the President's luncheon, Mr. John Morris was awarded the Excellence Award for the work and participation in activities throughout the year. Among our special guests for the closing banquet were Governor Kay Ivey, Tommy Tuberville and Trey Gowdy III. The Young Farmers awarded the Smelly Family from Hale County as the Outstanding Young Farmers Family award. Discussion Meet winner Ellie Watson was also awarded for her performance.
As always, we have a very busy schedule and accomplish much for the farming organization throughout the year.
