Piggly Wiggly Food Stores of Jefferson County, Inc. was presented the 2019 Agriculture Appreciation Award at the 2019 Farm City Banquet held on November 25, 2019 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Stores in this group are located in Homewood, Crestline, River Run, Mountain Brook and Mt. Laurel. The Homewood store has been in business for 47 years. Accepting the award was Produce Supervisor, Jerry Ragusa. The Federation is proud to have businesses that put high value on the work that Alabama Farmers do for the families in our County.

"Over the years it has been a pleasure to serve locally sourced produce as much as possible. Working with growers, seeing the delight in customer’s eyes and knowing that we have helped keep this region healthy. It is a true joy and something everyone who works at The Pig cherishes. Our customers appreciate the extra effort it takes to have locally sourced produce from the farmer to the store. They know they can’t find anything better than something grown “here at home”. From sweet potatoes to collards, to tomatoes, beans to figs and everything else you can think of, Piggly Wiggly is proud to be involved with the Jefferson County Farmers Federation.”
